Bhubaneswar: Further stepping up its probe into Odisha Police Sub=Inspector (SI) recruitment scandal, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) questioned senior officials of key agencies while widening the scope of the probe into the tendering and examination management process.
As per information, the central probe agency on Saturday questioned an officer of SP rank of the Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB) in connection with irregularities in the tender process for conducting the SI recruitment examination.
This apart, notices have reportedly been issued to three other members of the OPRB asking them to appear at the CBI office here in connection with the probe. The focus of the exercise is reported to be on the tende
r awards and compliance with laid down norms
CBI sleuths are also scrutinising the role of Silicon Tech Lab Private Limited, which was awarded the contract to conduct the examination. The CBI is examining how this firm managed the examination process and whether due procedures were followed. The role of company head Suresh Nayak is under detailed investigation. The agency is probing how OPRB granted permission to an institution run by Nayak to conduct a sensitive recruitment examination.
Investigation conducted so far reportedly revealed suspected involvement of a syndicate, wherein a teacher is stated to have handled an entire module related to the examination process. In this connection, the CBI has issued a notice to the suspect teacher, asking him to appear before the agency for questioning.
In the meantime, the CBI is conducting marathon interrogations of three key accused, Shankar, Suresh and Sagar, who are currently on four-day remand. The agency had taken them on remand on Friday as part of the probe to unearth the wider conspiracy, identify beneficiaries, and establish links between officials and private entities.
