Dhenkanal: The police will soon start an operation to trace the 11 missing minor girls of the shelter home in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district.
These girls allegedly have been sent to the neighbouring states without the knowledge of the district administration.
The absence of these girls was noticed during the shifting of the inmates from the shelter home on Sunday.
According to the latest update by the police, the shelter home had 81 inmates, including 47 were minor girls and 34 minor boys. However, 11 minor girls have been sent to the neighbouring states by the shelter home authority.

Talking to mediapersons on Sunday, Dhenkanal SP, Santosh Kumar Nayak said that the apart from the arrest of the project director and in-charge of the shelter home Simanchal Nayak (39) on Sunday morning, the assistance director Udit Kumar Lima (46) and the owner and managing director Fayaz Rahman (63) were arrested from the head office of the shelter home at Phulanakhara in Cuttack later in the day.
The SP said the managing director who used to stay in Kolkata and USA, has set up 22 shelter homes in Odisha, seven in West Bengal and one in Jharkhand.
Stating that the accused against whom three cases have been registered on the basis of the three complaints of the minor girls have been forwarded to the court.
The shelter home was sealed on Sunday in the presence of the District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Anuradha Goswami and Sadar Tehsildar Udaya Mahapatra.
As informed by the Dhenkanal collector Nikhil Pawan Kalyan, the inmates of the shelter home have been rehabilitated in the Open Shelter at Kathagada in Dhenkanal town and the Dayananda Service Centre at Gobindapur on the outskirts of the town.
“Efforts are on to ensure proper education of these inmates while steps are being taken so that they will appear in the final examinations without any hassles,” he added.
