Bhubaneswar: For the first time, Odisha Police will unfurl National Flag in 10 uninhabited islands off the state coast on the Republic Day.
This was revealed by DGP YB Khurania while speaking to mediapersons on Friday. As per the instructions of the Prime Minister, several teams of Odisha Police would go to 10 uninhabited islands and unfurl the Tricolour on the occasion of Republic Day. It will be for the first time that the Tricolur would be unfurled in those islands, he added.
Stating that the police teams had already made a survey of the islands, he said all necessary arrangements had been made for their visit.
The DGP said he held a discussion with Donny Michael, Additional Director General of Coast Guard for Eastern Seaboard regarding the coastal security. It was decided to intensify coastal patrolling, increase aerial surveillance and set up a command-and-control system as part of security measures, he added.
