Berhampur: A training session was organised on Thursday for the police personnel in the ranks of Inspectors and above in Berhampur police district of Odisha’s Ganjam district for the ensuing Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
During the training, which was conducted in the Berhampur SP’s office, the role of police in enforcing the model code of conduct, announced by the Election Commission of India, was elaborated. Special focus on executing non-bailable warrants (NBWs) and binding down trouble-makers under Sections 107 and 110 of CrPC were discussed, said Berhampur SP Saravana Vivek M.
“Special mention was made for sealing the border with Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh. Total 6 border check posts have been identified and made functional. Continuous checking will be done in those areas,” he said.
The SP further said flying squads have been activated and area domination flag march is being done by BSF personnel in all police station areas.
The Berhampur police district has 31 police personnel in the rank of Inspectors and above including 21 Inspectors, 8 DSPs and 2 Additional SPs.
As per the schedule announced by the Election Commission, Berhampur will go to elections on May 13.
