Bhubaneswar: Days before the elections in Odisha’s Kalahandi Lok Sabha constituency, police have seized around Rs 3.7 lakh unaccounted money from a vehicle on the way to Chhattisgarh.
As per reports, the pick-up van was going from Nuapada, an Assembly segment under the Lok Sabha constituency, to the neighbouring state. A team from Jonk police station, which was on checking duty, intercepted the vehicle in front of Jolarma temple in Khariar Road of Nuapada district.
While checking the van, the police team found Rs 3 lakh and 70 thousand from two persons travelling in the vehicle. As the two persons could not produce any valid document in support of the money, the police seized it and detained them.
The police have registered a case in this regard and started further investigation.
It may be noted that the elections to Kalahandi Lok Sabha seat and Assembly segments under it in the first phase in the state on May 13.
