Odisha Primary School Teacher Caught On Camera Sleeping In Classroom, Suspended

Ganjam: A woman teacher of a primary school in Ganjam district was suspended after a video of her sleeping on the floor in a classroom during duty hours went viral on social media on Tuesday.

Block Development Officer S. Giridhara suspended the assistant teacher, Sumit Nayak of Shree Rangrajpur Primary School at Srirangarajpur village under Gurunthi panchayat, for alleged dereliction of duty after a preliminary inquiry.

She had allegedly gone off to sleep while the students were having midday meals. The guardian of a student, who was on the premises, captured the moment on his phone and shared it on social media platforms.

The teacher has been asked to report at Belamsahi school during the period of her suspension, sources said.
