Bhubaneswar: All Odisha Bus Owners’ Association on Wednesday decided to launch an indefinite strike across the state from October 10 to protest the government’s LAccMI scheme.
According to sources, the decision to go on state-wide stir was taken at the general body meeting of the association held in Bhubaneswar today.
As the LAccMI scheme of the state government is to be launched in Malkangiri on October 2, a 24-hour cease-wheel (Chaka-Bandh) agitation will be held in undivided Koraput district on the same day. Private buses will not play from and to Koraput, Malkangiri, Jeypore, and Nabarangpur districts on that day.
Sources said the association leaders had a meeting with the state government earlier in the day. The agitation will be launched if the demands of the outfit are not met.
The government scheme is aimed to provide seamless public transport network across the state from Gram Panchayat level up to state capital.
After the state cabinet approved the LAccMI scheme, an amount of Rs 556 crore has also been allocated for it in the supplementary budget.
