Berhampur: Renowned pulmonologist of Odisha Dr Narayan Mishra honoured with the prestigious ‘Indian Chest Society-Lifetime Achievement Award 2024’ during the National Conference of the Pulmonologists held at Coimbatore.
The conference, held on Thursday evening, was attended by more than 2500 chest physicians of India and abroad. This award was presented to him in the inaugural function by the chief guest, Prof Atul C Mehta, former President of World Association of Bronchology and Professor of Medicine at Cleveland USA.
This national award was given to him for his dedication, innovation and excellence in the field of respiratory medicine throughout his career. His remarkable contributions to the advancement of respiratory care, research, and education have left an indelible mark on the field and inspired generations of medical professionals.
It is worth mentioning that Dr Mishra is a recipient of two international awards and more than 100 national awards for his academic activities in the field of respiratory medicine. He is known for his anti-tobacco movement in the country and has conducted more than 670 anti-tobacco awareness workshop.
One of his huge anti-tobacco rallies on World Cancer Day on 4.2.2009 with more than ten thousand students at Berhampur was the largest rally of its kind and is placed in the Limca Book of Records.
