Odisha: Puri Jagannath Temple To Remain Shut For 3 Hours Tomorrow

Puri: Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s pilgrim town of Puri will remain out of bounds for devotees for three hours on Wednesday for Banakalagi ritual of the sibling deities.

The Banakalagi Niti of Lord Jagannath will be held on the 12th day of Shukla Paksha in Magha month on Wednesday, February 21. Therefore, the darshan at the temple will remain closed for three hours from 6 pm to 9 pm after the end of the second Bhogamandap ritual, informed the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA).

During the Banakalagi Niti, servitors do ‘Srimukha Sringara’ of deities and apply fresh coat of colours prepared from hingula, haritala, kasturi, keshar and the glue of kaintha on the idols to restore their original look.
