Puri: The Jagannath Sena staged a protest on Thursday, opposing the decision of Puri Municipality to collect user fee from locals.
According to reports, Puri municipality has decided to take user fee for door-step garbage collection under its jurisdiction from November 10.
Accordingly, it had fixed a slab of Rs 25 for houses having carpet area under 500 square feet, Rs 50 for 1200 square feet, Rs 70 for 3000 square feet and Rs 100 for 5000 square feet per month.
The outfit alleged that user fee is illegal as locals are already paying holding tax to the municipality for sanitation, solid waste management and other basic services.
Activists of Jagannath Sena also threatened to intensify the protest if the decision is not scrapped immediately.
