Odisha Rail Mishap: Hockey Players Observe Minute’s Silence Ahead Of India-Britain Match

London: A minute’s silence was observed ahead of the FIH Pro League encounter between India and Britain here on Saturday.

Flags flew at half mast at the Lee Valley Hockey Centre, located at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, as the teams played out an exciting 4-4 draw before India prevailed 4-2 in the shootout.

Harmanpreet Singh scored in the sixth minute off a penalty corner, only for the home team to find the equaliser within a minute.

Mandeep Singh and Sukhjeet Singh scored field goals in the second quarter as India led 3-1 at half-time.

Britain made it 2-3 in the third quarter before a thrilling final 15 minutes saw them scoring 2 more while India struck through Abhishek.

Sam Ward was Britain’s one-man destruction army, scoring all four – two field goals and two of PCs.

In the shootout, India scored from all their four attempts, while India thwarted two of Britain’s penalty strokes.
