Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast one or two intense spells of rain accompanied by thunderstorm in some parts of 14 districts of Odisha till 8 am on Friday.
This weather condition will prevail in Boudh, Angul, Jajpur, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Conepur, Deogarh, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Balasore, Cuttack (including Cuttack city) and Khurda (including Bhubaneswar).
The IMD has warned of waterlogging in low-lying areas, occasional poor visibility and traffic disruption in cities.
With the southwest monsoon active and the low-pressure area now lying over north Odisha and neighbourhood with associated cyclonic circulation, the MeT office has also issued orange warning for heavy rainfall in several districts of Odisha till July 16. Squally weather with gusty surface wind speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph is likely over sea off Odisha coast adjoining west-central and North-west Bay of Bengal during this period.

Orange warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places in Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore.
Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places in Kendrapada Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sonepur and Boudh.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places in the state.
July 16 (8.30 am) to July 17 (8.30 am)
Orange warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places in Bargarh, Sambalpur, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal and Jajpur.
Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Deogarh and Jharsuguda.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Odisha.
July 17 (8.30 am) to July 18 (8.30 am)
Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Nuapada, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely at many places over the districts of Odisha.
July 18 (8.30 am) to July 19 (8.30 am)
Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Gajapati, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada and Mayurbhanj.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is also likely at many places over the districts of Odisha.
