Bhubaneswar: Odisha has emerged as number one state in the country in the number of beneficiaries getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
Director, Health and Family Welfare Bijay Panigrahi on Friday said, “Lakshadweep stands first and Odisha second in COVID-19 vaccination in India. Since Lakshadweep is a Union Territory, Odisha has bagged the top rank among states.”
He said the vaccine has been administered to 1,94,058 health workers till Thursday and 1,44,642 more will be administered soon. Those, who had missed it in first phase, have started taking it from Thursday, he added.
The COVID-19 vaccination drive will be put on hold from January 31 till February 2 for polio vaccination, said Panigrahi.
However, first dose of the vaccination will be given to all the health workers till February 10.
Stating that no major side-effects have been noticed among the vaccinated health workers, he said those who had minor complaints are fine now.
