Odisha Receives 9.9% Excess Rainfall Between June & Sept

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has received 9.9 per cent excess rainfall between June 1 and September 30 this year, said a report by the state Revenue and Disaster Management department.

According to the report, the state had received deficit rainfall in June (31.5%) and July (9%) and excess rainfall in August (24.5%) and September (53.7%).

During the last four months since June, Malkangiri district has received highest cumulative rainfall of 1888.6 mm while Gajapati district has received the lowest of 945.7 mm, which is 2.6% more than the average rainfall.

Ten districts, including Cuttack, Puri and Koraput,  received 19% excess rainfall in the last four months and Deogarh less than average rainfall.

In terms of block-wise rainfall, 103 blocks have received surplus rainfall while 169 blocks have received normal rainfall. Besides, 40 blocks have received deficit rainfall while Champua and Jhumpura blocks in Keonjhar district have received meagre rainfall, the report added.
