Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday reconstituted the official committee to advise the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court and the Union Law ministry for the setting up of permanent High Court benches in Southern and Western Odisha.
The development commissioner will be the chairperson of the new committee and the special secretary, Home will be the convener. It will also comprise the principal secretaries of Home, Finance, Revenue and Law departments as members.
The state government had formed the committee on March 8 this year.
Notably, the state government had set up the Justice Pal Commission of Inquiry in March 2008 to identify the location for permanent HC benches in Southern and Western Odisha. The Commission had submitted its report to the government on May 31, 2014, but it is yet to be made public.
