Bhubaneswar: Odisha was one of 8 states in the country that experienced maximum number of days of the heatwave in June this year.
According to a tweet of India Meteorological Department (IMD) on its official handle on Friday, above normal heatwave days were observed in eastern parts of India. Those states are West Bengal, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.
While Bihar witnessed maximum 19 days of heatwave during the month, it was followed by West Bengal with 17 days.
Odisha along with Jharkhand and Andhra Pradesh were scorched under the above normal heatwave for 14 days, while Chhattisgarh experienced 11 days of extreme temperature in the summer season.
Besides these states, adjoining central parts of the country including eastern Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Telangana also recorded very high number of days of heatwave in June.
