Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported the highest single-day spike of 3,996 COVID-19 cases, taking the state’s total caseload to 1,43,117 on Friday.
Of the new cases reported from 30 districts. 2,359 were from quarantine centres while 1637 were local contacts.
Among the districts, Khurda led the tally with 606 new cases, followed by Cuttack (354), Puri (279), Balasore (209), Mayurbhanj (160), Nabarangpur (151), Angul (138), Kendrapada (130), Bhadrak (124), Jagatsinghpur (122), Jajpur (119), Bhadrak (112), Rayagada (105), Nuapada (103), Bargarh (97), Koraput (93), Sambalpur (91), Sonepur (91), Ganjam (89), Sundargarh (88), Dhenkanal (87), Jharsuguda (79), Nayagarh (77), Keonjhar (60), Kalahandi (58), Malkangiri (47), Kandhamal (47), Boudh (39), Gajapati (25) and Deogarh (10).
Another 206 cases are from the state pool, the I&PR Department tweeted.
With 591 deaths and 108,001 recoveries, Odisha now has 34,458 active cases.
