Bhubaneswar: The economic activities seem to be picking up in the state as revenue collection from sale of motor vehicles has made a significant hike of 31% in September over August, according to State Transport Authority (STA).
The September collection was Rs 117 crore against Rs 89.5 crore of August from the sale of motor vehicles. But, it is 7% less than the Rs 126 crore collected in September last year.
However, the heartening news is that it is the lowest margin in this financial year. The revenue from the sector has been steadily increasing since the lockdown restrictions were eased in June, indicating a healthy sign for the economy, the experts said.
They assigned the reason to increased economic activities, particularly in the mining sector.
The revenue collection in the first two quarters of this financial year was Rs 501 crore which is 36% less than Rs 787 crore collected in the same period of the last financial year.
