Bhubaneswar: Cybercrime cases have witnessed a steady rise in Odisha with a total of 824 cases being registered in 2017, as against 317 in 2016, and 385 in 2015.
According to an official statement issued by the State Crime Branch on Thursday, as many as 195 persons were arrested in connection with cyber fraud-related cases in 2017, against 99 in 2016.
The Crime Branch has registered around 265 cases related to ATM fraud and 206 online fraud-related cases in 2017.
Besides registering around 184 cases relating to circulation of viral videos/images, the state has also witnessed cases relating to 27 credit card frauds, 19 bank frauds and seven job frauds.
