Bhubaneswar: The daily COVID-19 caseload in Odisha remained below 2,000 for the third consecutive day on Wednesday (February 9) with 1,712 more people testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours, a marginal rise from 1,503 on Tuesday (February 8) and 1,497 on Monday (February 10).
According to the I & PR department, 997 of the fresh infections are from quarantine and 715 local contacts. Among them, 323 are in the 0-18 years age group. Khurda reported the highest of 257 cases followed by Sundargrah at 147, Koraput at 118 and Cuttack at 104.

With these cases being detected from 66,021 samples, the test positivity rate stood for 2.5 per cent against 2.62 per cent the previous day.
The state had tested 57,150 samples on Monday and 47,101 samples on Sunday when the caseload dropped below 2,000 for the first time since a steep spike in cases last month.
Odisha now has 17,647 active cases. Khurda is the only district in the Red zone with 3910 active cases. Sundargarh with 1461 and Cuttack with 1106 active cases are in the yellow zone.
