Bhubaneswar: Odisha registered highest growth rate of 20.01% in gross GST collection (CGST, IGST, SGST & Cess) in December 2020 compared to December collection in 2019 among all major states in the country.

In a statement, Sushil Kumar Lohani, Commissioner (Commercial Tax and GST) said the gross GST collection during December 2020 was Rs 2860.20 crore against Rs 2383.29 crore in the same month last year.

While the OGST collection in December 2020 was Rs 765.26 crore against Rs 726.29 crore in the same month last year, IGST collection was Rs 965.75 crore against Rs 696.04 crore with growth rate of 38.75% which is highest in a month of the current financial year.

Stating that the collection of GST from mining sector remained sluggish due to non-operation of many mines, it is expected to improve in coming months with gradual opening of most sectors in the economy, Lohani said.
