Bhubaneswar/Balasore/Sambalpur: To commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary this year, celebrations are underway in different parts of Odisha, including Cuttack, Sambalpur and Balasore, on Tuesday.
Commemorative activities and cultural events were held at several places while colleges and government offices organised special prayer sessions and get-togethers.
District level Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated in Balasore district. On the occasion, the district Information and Public Relation Department organised photo exhibitions at different parts of the district.
Padayatra was held in the district, in which students of various schools and colleges participated. Balasore people and the students gathered at Balasore Public School and Saheed Park to pay tributes to the great leader.
Noted Gandhians and senior citizens also participated in the celebration.
“District administration, students of schools and colleges, students’ association, general people and senior citizens are also remembering the Father of the Nation and discussing his philosophy,” said a senior citizen.
Likewise, the birth anniversary of Gandhiji was also celebrated in Cuttack and Sambalpur by giving floral tribute to the statues of him.
The students and teachers of Bloosoms School in Odisha capital remembered Gandhi and organised a padayatra.
