Bhubaneswar: Odisha on Saturday remembered former Odisha Chief Minister Janaki Ballav Patnaik on his third death anniversary.
Cutting across party lines, political leaders paid rich tributes to the great Sanskrit scholar, an eminent journalist and a successful politician at a number of functions organised different parts of the state.
Rajya Sabha MP and former legislator Jitu Mitra along with other eminent persons paid floral tributes to the great leader at his 10-feet high statue at Udyan premises in Khurda.
Born on January 3, 1927 at Rameswar village in Khurda district, Patnaik was the Chief Minister of Odisha for two consecutive terms from 1980 to 1989 and again from 1995 to 1999.
He was appointed as the Governor of Assam in 2009.
JB Patnaik died in Tirupati of Andhra Pradesh on April 21, 2015 while he was there to attend the convocation ceremony of Tirupati Rashtriya Sanskruta University, of which he was the Chancellor. He felt pain in his chest and was rushed to a private hospital where he passed away.
