Bhubaneswar: Odisha logged eight new COVID-19 cases and 31 recoveries in the last 24 hours, taking the active tally to 152 on Sunday.
The state had been witnessing a downward trend in infections with the daily count dropping to 11 on Saturday from 22 on Friday and 28 on Thursday.
According to the I & PR department, the new cases have been reported from five of the 30 districts. While five are from quarantine, three are local contacts. One among them is in the age group of 0-18 years.
Here are the district-wise figures of the new cases:
1. Balangir: 1
2. Cuttack: 1
3. Kendrapada: 1
4. Khurda: 2
5. Sambalpur: 2
Besides, 1 from the state pool.
With these cases being detected from 21,918 samples, the test positivity rate stood at 0.03%.
It is for the second time this month that Odisha has reported cases in single-digit on a single day. The state had seen a sharp fall in daily caseload, a drop of almost 86 per cent, on April 4 when five people tested positive for the virus. Three districts had then turned COVID-free, while the number has now gone up to five – Keonjhar, Nayagarh, Kalahandi, Koraput and Puri.
