Cuttack: A patient has tested positive for swine flu at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, the first such case reported in Odisha this year.
SCB emergency officer Dr Bhubanananda Maharana confirmed the news on Thursday.
Dr Maharana informed that three suspected patients were admitted in the special swine flu ward recently. The hospital authorities had sent their swab and blood samples to the Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) in Bhubaneswar. Of them, a patient from Dhenkanal district tested positive.
“We have discharged one patient. The two others, including the swine flu patient, are undergoing treatment,” he added.
The SCB official assured people afflicted with swine flu that they should not panic because they can be fully cured with proper vaccination. He, however, added that one should also take proper precautions to stay safe from the influenza virus.
