Odisha Reports Marginal Rise In Daily COVID Caseload; No New Infections In 9 Districts

Bhubaneswar: After reporting less than 500 new infections for two consecutive days, the daily COVID caseload in Odisha witnessed a marginal rise on Sunday with 528 people testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.

The state had seen 478 on Saturday, 477 on Friday, 602 on Thursday, 565 on Wednesday, 545 on Tuesday and 585 on Monday.

Of the fresh infections reported from 21 districts, 73 (13.82 per cent) are in the age group of 18 years.

According to the I & PR department, 310 of the new cases are from quarantine and 218 local contacts.

Khurda district reported the highest 243 new infections, followed by Cuttack (69) and Mayurbhanj (31). Nine districts reported nil cases.

  20. Sonepur: 2
  21. Sundargarh: 9

Besides, 59 are from the state pool.

With these fresh cases detected from 69,030 samples, the test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 0.76 %. The TPR was 0.69% on Saturday, 0.72% on Friday, 0.88% on Thursday, 0.96% on Wednesday and 1.03% on Tuesday.

Odisha now has 5,280 active cases.
