Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported over 1,000 new COVID cases for the third consecutive day with 1,020 people testing positive in the last 24 hours. One more person also succumbed to the virus, taking the toll in the fourth wave to 12.
According to the I & PR department, 597 of the new infections are from quarantine and 423 local transmission cases. Among them, 195 are in the age group of 0-18 years. Sundargarh leads the tally with 159 cases followed by Khurda at 158.

With these cases being detected from 23,537 samples, the test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 4.33%. Odisha now has 6787 active cases with 1,206 patients having recovered in the last 24 hours.
The health department has identified the deceased as a 42 years old man of Bhadrak District. He was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus. Two deaths from Cuttack district and Bhubaneswar were confirmed in the last two days.
