Bhubaneswar: The daily COVID-19 caseload in Odisha soared alarmingly on Wednesday as 791 people tested positive for the virus.
Besides the biggest spike of this year, the last 24 hours also saw one COVID-19 death from Puri district.
The state has been reporting over 500 cases for the past two days.
According to the Health Department sources, these fresh cases have been reported from 29 districts.
Among the 791 cases, 459 are from quarantine and 332 local contact cases.
While Sundargarh district has reported the highest 147 cases followed by Khurda (118), Bargarh (48), Cuttack (46), Sambalpur (45), Puri (43), Keonjhar (39), Kalahandi (38), Jharsuguda (31), Nuapada (31), Mayurbhanj (24), Nabarangpur (23), Angul (17), Jajpur (16), Balangir (14), Rayagada (14), Bhadrak (10), Ganjam (9), Jagatsinghpur (9), Koraput (9), Nayagarh (7), ), Sonepur (7), Balasore (6), Kandhamal (4), Dhenkanal (3), Boudh (2), Malkangiri (2), Deogarh (1), Kendrapada (1).
Besides, the state pool has 27 cases.
With 3,38,416 recoveries, Odisha has now 4,255 active cases.
