Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government on Monday apprised the Centre that the state is left with 6,02,430 doses of Covishield and 1,48,550 doses of Covaxin.
In a letter to the Health Ministry, the Additional Chief Secretary (Health) P K Mohapatra has requested for 15 lakh doses of Covishield. Mohapatra said Odisha is vaccinating 2 lakh persons daily and is left with a stock for just two days.
The letter reads: “The Health Ministry has been requested to supply minimum 15 lakh doses of Covishield immediately in view of the surge in cases and the impending heatwave. However, we have been assured only 3,49,130 doses of Covishield to reach on 6th April (2 pm). This will not be sufficient for even two days.”
He further mentioned that vaccine wastage rate of the state is minus 0.5% (i.e, Vaccine Savings), which is amongst the lowest in the country. So, the State has requested the Centre for at least 15 lakh doses of Covishield immediately.
The Centre has reportedly assured only 3,49,130 doses on April 6.
