Ranchi: A private aircraft, bound for Bhubaneswar from the Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi, with 58 passengers, had to abort take-off due to a technical snag.
The passengers were later flown to the Odisha capital in another aircraft.
The glitch was detected in the aircraft during a check, Birsa Munda Airport Director Vinod Kumar told PTI on Sunday.
The plane, carrying 58 passengers, had arrived at the Birsa Munda Airport around 6.20 pm on Saturday. However, the technical snag was detected during a post-landing check and authorities declared it unfit to fly, Kumar said.
The stranded flyers were sent to Bhubaneswar by another flight that had arrived from Kolkata, he said.
The technical glitch was later fixed and the aircraft will be sent to Kolkata, Kumar said.
While the nature of the glitch was not disclosed, there could have been trouble for the passengers and crew had it not been detected during the post-landing check.
Such delays can be tiresome for passengers, particularly if snags are detected at the last moment.
In June, an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Ranchi was delayed after a technical snag was detected before take-off from the Indira Gandhi International Airport. The aircraft was stopped from proceeding to the runway, but passengers alleged they remained inside the cabin for nearly three hours despite the malfunction.
Passengers staged a demonstration inside the aircraft after the air-conditioning system failed, making the cabin uncomfortable. Airline staff opened the aircraft doors and deboarded passengers using shuttle buses after the commotion.
The plane finally took off for Ranchi after technical checks and mandatory safety procedures.
