Cuttack: A special Vigilance Court in Cuttack on Friday sentenced a retired Revenue Inspector to rigorous imprisonment (RI) for 2 years and a fine of Rs 10,000 in a bribery case.
Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack sentenced Subash Chandra Das, retired Revenue Inspector of Kujanga Circle in Jagatsinghpur district to two years RI after convicting him for demanding and accepting bribe Rs 8,000 from a complainant to submit verification report for issuance of RoR (Land Patta) in his favour in a mutation case.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Das and in default of payment of the fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for 6 months more for the offence under section 13(2) read with 13(1)(d)/7 PC Act, 1988, an official release said.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of the pension of Subash Chandra Das, Ex-Revenue Inspector (Retired) following his conviction, the release added.
