Bhubaneswar: The marriage of Devesi Devi, youngest daughter of Puri Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb, was solemnised in the capital city on Wednesday. Debeshi married married Aditya Kehr, descendent of Burdwan royal family.
Rituals like Pata Ring, Tilak and Mangalkrutya were held at Raja Nahar, the palace of the Gajapati. Later, at 7 pm a feast was organised in the palace where Mahaprasad, the offering of Lord Jagannath, was served to the guests, who included from Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), members of Srimandir Managing Committee and some senior servitors.
The main wedding ceremony was conducted in a hotel in Bhubaneswar at 11 pm. According to the palace sources, the ceremony was held in adherence to COVID-19 guidelines and a limited number of guests.
Family members of the groom had arrived at the Puri palace on Tuesday and had darshan of Lord Jagannath.
Members of the Nilagiri Royal family, including Jyotsna Devi Mardaraj, also attended the ceremony in Puri.
While Devesi is the youngest of four daughters of Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb and Lilabati Patta Mahadevi, Aditya is the son of Gurugram’s Rajiv Kehr and Nisha Mahtab Kehr.
Puri Gajapati is known as an Adya Sevak of Lord Jagannath (first and foremost servant). Each year, Dibyasingha Deb performs ‘Chhera Pahanra’ during the annual Gundicha Yatra as well as Bahuda Yatra.
