Brahmapur: Odisha’s noted sand artist Satyanarayana Maharana has added another honour to his growing list of achievements by receiving the prestigious International Excellence Shri Award in Jaipur.
The award was presented to Maharana during an event held at the Rajasthan International Centre in Jaipur on October 4.
Known for his innovative artworks and socially relevant sand sculptures, 42-year-old Maharana has consistently used art as a medium to spread awareness on various issues. Besides sand, he has created artistic works using wood, stone, chalk, soap, ice, salt, clay, leaves, newspapers and rangoli, earning several world records and accolades at national and international levels.
With more than 70 records to his credit, Maharana has received numerous honours for his creativity and dedication to art. His works reflect his constant effort to experiment with new ideas and materials.
Expressing gratitude for the honour, Maharana said his achievements have been made possible by the blessings of his parents, the support of his family, the blessings of Lord Jagannath, Maa Kandhuni Devi and Maa Budhi Thakurani, and the goodwill and encouragement of people.
Maharana said his constant objective is to create something new and innovative through art and continue bringing recognition to Odisha on national and international platforms.
