Cuttack: The State Government on Saturday suspended Sudhansu Sekhar Bhuyan, sarpanch of Nagaspur panchayat in Cuttack district, for allegedly misusing the Collector’s power and misbehaving with an on-duty woman doctor.
Bhuyan had reportedly asked Dr Ajanta Mohanty to attend a meeting convened by him on April 24. When Dr Mohanty refused to attend the meeting due to some pre-scheduled work, the Sarpanch allegedly abused her in filthy language. He also scolded other staff when they protested.
Following the incident, Dr Mohanty lodged a complaint against Bhuyan with Nemalo police. Acting on the complaint, the police initiated a probe into the complaint and arrested the Sarpanch.
