Odisha: SCB Doctor Arrested For Marrying Second Time Without Divorce

Bhubaneswar: A plastic surgeon of SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, has been arrested for allegedly tying the nuptial knot with another woman without divorcing his wife.

The accused, Ashish Pattnaik, was arrested by Mahaila Police near Pahala on Saturday on basis of the complaint filed by the woman.

According to sources, the doctor married the woman physiotherapist in a temple at Damana here in 2019 and they started staying together. He showed her an agreement paper terming it a marriage registration document and promised to marry her ritualistically later.

However, he later tortured her physically and mentally. When the woman came to know about his wife, she lodged a written complaint with the Mahila police and the doctor was apprehended when he was heading towards a private hospital near Pahala.

Notably, his wife resides in the same city.

Police have recorded the statement of the complainant and further probe is underway.
