Phulbani: A headmaster in charge of a school in Odisha’s Kandhamal district has landed in a soup after photographs of his alleged second wedding surfaced on social media while his divorce is still sub-judice.
In the pictures, headmaster in-charge of Sujamaju High School Sripati Nayak is seen cutting a cake with another woman wearing a ‘varmala’ in the storeroom of the institute under Daringbadi block in the presence of other teachers.
His first wife Nirupama Dakua has lodged a complaint in this regard at Baliguda police station, questioning how could he remarry on the school premises when the divorce case is still pending in the court of law. “He had been physically and mentally torturing me for the last seven years. He had filed for divorce in a family court and later withdrew it,” said Dakua whom he had married in 2003. They are parents to a 12-year-old daughter.
She further alleged that her husband remarried another woman on February 6 and had been living with her in the storeroom of the school.
Nayak, however, has refuted all the allegations, saying that the photographs were taken during his birthday celebrations. “The photographs which have gone viral were taken during my birthday celebrations. I threw a feast for the staff on my birthday after school time,” Nayak said.
He added that he has filed for divorce from his wife.
