Cuttack: The headmaster of a primary school in Cuttack district was suspended on Monday for coming to school drunk.
The man, Rabindra Dehury, is the headmaster of Meripur Primary School in Cuttack’s Mahanga block. He was recently caught on camera in an inebriated condition on the school premises. Some guardians then assaulted the headmaster. A video of the incident had gone viral on social media.
Villagers alleged that Dehury is a habitual drunkard. They had repeatedly warned him against coming to school under the influence of alcohol, but to no avail.
The video had also caught the attention of the block education officer (BEO), Chakradhar Behera, who ordered the cluster resource coordinator (CRC) to investigate the matter.
Based on the probe report, Behera suspended Dehury until further orders.
