Odisha Schools To Organise Annual Sports Meets With Hockey World Cup Theme

Bhubaneswar: In view of next month’s FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup to be held in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela, schools in Odisha will organise their annual sports meets under the theme – ‘Hockey World Cup: promoting Hockey among school children’.

The Odisha School Education Programme Authority has written to all District Education Officer-cum-DPCs, urging them to prepare plans immediately for organising annual sports activities at school/Block/District level ahead of the World Cup.

Hoardings, banners, standees and posters reflecting FIH Odisha Men’s Hockey World Cup will be installed at the school/Block/District level sports venue/ground.

All districts have been advised to promote hockey among children during annual sports activities, with hockey-centric districts like Sundargarh and Khurda asked to organise hockey matches among students.

State grants have been provided to all districts for organising World Cup hockey-themed sports activities in schools.
