Bhubaneswar: With the state government planning to reopen upper primary and higher secondary classes in a graded manner, it has directed the teaching and non-teaching staff to take both doses of COVID vaccine by the end of this month.
A decision in this regard was taken at a review meeting of the School and Mass Education department on Thursday. Presiding the meeting, principal secretary of the department Satyabrata Sahu said all the teaching and non-teaching staff, who have availed first dose of the vaccine, must take the second dose of by October-end.
At a meeting of the department last month, it was decided to prepare standard operating procedure (SOP) for reopening the primary schools in October. The District Education Officers (DEOs) and Block Education Officers (BEOs) had been asked to take steps for cleaning the school campuses and classrooms before Dussehra.
But the government has not made any announcement regarding the date of reopening the primary schools.
It may be noted that Classes VIII and XI opened for physical teaching on Thursday day while Classes IX, X and XII had reopened in July and August.
