Odisha Schoolteacher On BLO Duty Dies After Being Hit By Ambulance


Malkangiri: A schoolteacher was killed after an ambulance allegedly dashed against his scooter near Kiang under Mathili police station limits in Odisha’s Malkangiri district.

The deceased was identified as Anuram Nayak (57) of Nuaguda village under Salimi panchayat in the area.

According to sources, Nayak was travelling to his workplace at Bijapadar on a scooter to carry out census survey work and perform his duty as a Booth Level Officer (BLO) when the accident took place.

The accident occurred when an ambulance coming from the opposite direction allegedly rammed into his scooter near Kiang. The impact threw Nayak off his scooter, leaving him critically injured.

Following the accident, ambulance personnel transported the injured teacher to the Mathili Sub-Divisional Hospital (SDH) in the same ambulance. However, doctors examined him and declared him dead.

Police have seized the ambulance and the scooter and launched an investigation into the circumstances leading to the crash.
