Odisha Sculptor Cycles For 17 Days, Reaches Ghazipur Border To Lend Support To Farmers

Ghazipur: After riding a bicycle for 17 days, sculptor Muktikant Biswal from Rourkela reached the Gazipur border in the national capital to lend his support to the farmers by making clay idols. Farmers have been protesting the three contentious farm laws introduced by the Centre.

The farmers have been protesting for three months now. Biswal registered his protest by making idols at the Gazipur border.

Biswal made three clay idols showcasing one corporate executive and two farmers. Farmers were depicted as ‘bulls’ in the idol symbolising the alleged exploitation of farmers in contract farming.

“I am making these sculptures in support of farmers and have made these sculptures depicting contract farming. There will be two farmers in each of the three idols with a plough on their shoulders. There will also be a wealthy type of person carrying the plough in one hand and a whip in the other hand,” the 32-year-old sculptor was quoted as saying by news agency IANS.

“In the place of the bulls, two farmers have been depicted with a plough on their shoulders. I am against the Union farm laws and reached the Ghazipur border on January 29,” Biswal said.
