Keonjhar: The Keonjhar administration on Wednesday declared prohibitory orders under Section 144 in all urban areas and panchayats adjacent to them in the district to contain the COVID-19 spread.
According to the notification issued by Collector Ashish Thakare, people of these areas will now have to take necessary permission for marriage and post-death rituals.
Strict action will be taken against violators under the Disaster Management Act, it added.
The directive came on the day Keonjhar slipped into the red zone with 1,029 active cases. The north Odisha district has so far reported 2192 cases this month with the highest of 266 on April 26.
