Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Secretariat Service Association has decided to launch an indefinite cease-work agitation to press their demands from Tuesday.
The association, in a press release on Monday, said the decision was taken at an urgent meeting of its members on the day. The members expressed their displeasure over the state government’s delay-dallying attitude in meeting their various demands for a long time.
“Despite holding several meetings with the office-bearers of the association, the government has failed to take any steps on fulfilling our demands. The indifferent attitude of the administration has created resentment among the Secretariat staff,” said general secretary of the association Prajyotna Baral.
Seeking intervention of the chief minister and 5T chairman in the matter, the association decided to launch the cease-work for indefinite period from Tuesday, he said.
The association members will also stage a dharna on the ground of Panchayati Raj department on the day, he added.
It may be noted that the association members had gheraoed the Secretariat in Bhubaneswar on June 8 last year to press their demand for raise in basic salary of Secretariat cadre employees.
