Bhubaneswar: Odisha on Tuesday secured over ₹1.17 lakh crore in prospective clean-energy investment proposals at the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi.
A total of 18 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the potential to add around 11,742 MW of clean energy capacity, were exchanged on the occasion. The proposed projects span pumped storage, solar, wind, hybrid renewable energy, battery storage, green hydrogen, green data centres and other emerging clean-energy technologies. “These partnerships reflect growing industry interest in Odisha’s renewable energy potential and reinforce the state’s commitment to sustainable industrial development and India’s clean-energy transition,” a post on CMO Odisha said.
Speaking at the Odisha State Plenary on “Investment Opportunities in the Renewable Energy Sector in Odisha”, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi outlined the state’s ambitious long-term vision to become a leading clean-energy destination and one of India’s top five power-exporting states by 2047, positioning it as the clean-energy engine of eastern India. He emphasised that the state government’s commitment to a stable and predictable policy framework, time-bound project approvals and robust transmission infrastructure to attract investments. He invited industry leaders and investors to partner with Odisha in harnessing its vast renewable energy potential.
Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi commended Odisha’s rapid strides in the sustainable energy landscape. He highlighted Odisha’s strategic importance in India’s clean-energy transition, pointing to the state’s natural resources, industrial strengths and port infrastructure as key advantages for drawing investments. He noted Odisha’s target of 10.96 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 and its potential in solar, wind, pumped storage and green hydrogen, while reaffirming the Centre’s support for turning this potential into investments, jobs and reliable clean energy as the state advances its vision of becoming a Green Energy Hub by 2036.
Chief Minister Majhi, along with Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo, also inaugurated the Odisha Pavilion and the Netherlands Pavilion at the event. The Odisha Pavilion showcases the state’s renewable energy potential, strategic advantages and investment opportunities across emerging clean-energy sectors, reflecting its dedication to building a sustainable energy ecosystem and contributing to India’s transition toward cleaner power.
