Bhubaneswar: The night temperature plummeted further in G Udayagiri as it recorded 6.2°C in the last 24 hours. The hill station in Kandhamal district was the coldest in the state at 6.6°C the previous day.
Semiliguda in Koraput was close second at 8.1°C, followed by Phulbani and Daringbadi also in Kandhamal at 9.5°C and 10.5°C respectively. Jharsuguda at 11.5°C saw the night temperature fall 5 degree below normal. Similarly, the mercury stood at 12°C at Angul, 5.5 degrees below normal.
The twin cities Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 16°C each, 3 and 1.9 degrees below normal.
While dry weather may continue to prevail in the state till November 26, shallow to moderate fog may occur at one or two places in Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Sundargarh districts on November 20-21, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). It added that there will no large change in the minimum temperature during the next 4-5 days.
The office of Special relief Commissioner has directed police and transport officials of these districts to take necessary steps for controlled plying of vehicles during dense fog.
