Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has appointed senior advocate Jagannath Rath as State Information Commissioner of Odisha Information Commission.
A letter regarding his appointment was issued by the Information and Public Relations department on February 1. “I am directed to inform that Governor of Odisha has been pleased to appoint you as State Information Commissioner of Odisha Information Commission as envisaged under Section 15 (3) of the Rights to Information Act, 2005.”
Rath, who is the honorary legal advisor to Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri, will join Balkrushna Mahapatra and Sushant Kumar Mohanty as Commissioners at the Odisha Information Commission.
The youngest son of freedom fighter and senior advocate of Orissa High Court Bipin Behari Rath and the younger brother of Justice (Retd) Biswanath Rath, he has been practising law for more than two and half decades now.
He had also served as legal adviser to Odisha Revenue Board.
