Bhubaneswar: Odisha may receive more rain in the coming days as a cyclonic circulation is likely to form over north Andaman Sea and neighbourhood on September 29, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday.
Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over north Andaman Sea and adjoining eastcentral Bay of Bengal during the subsequent 24 hours, it said.
Thereafter, it is likely to move west – northwestwards with possibility of gradual intensification, the IMD said.
IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra had earlier said that the low pressure area may intensify into a depression. The system may move in west-northwest direction but it is too early to predict when it will reach the coast and its likely impact, he had said, adding that the IMD has so far made no cyclone prediction and no alert has been issued for Odisha or any other states.
A clearer picture will emerge only after formation of the cyclonic circulation at the end of September and the subsequent low pressure area, he said.
