Puri: A case has been filed against Additional Tehsildar of Pipli in Odisha’s Puri district for allegedly sexually harassing a female Revenue Inspector (RI).
Additional Tehsildar, Prabodha Kumar Mohanty, has been booked under Section 75 of the BNS.
According to sources, the incident took place in the afternoon on May 24, after an official meeting at the Pipli Tehsil office. Due to heavy rain, the RI was waiting in a room near the Tehsildar’s chamber when Mohanty allegedly approached her, engaged in a brief conversation, and then inappropriately touched her waist, neck, and back without her consent. The complainant further alleged that Mohanty grabbed her hand and tried to stop her from leaving.
She has reported the incident to higher authorities and threatened to approach the media if needed.
Mohanty, however, refuted the allegations. “There was a dispute over her transfer which she discussed with me. I left the office after the meeting,” he told a local channel.
The Additional Tehsildar also expressed readiness to face any investigation.
