Bhubaneswar: The cold wave condition in Odisha intensified on Tuesday with a sharp fall in the night temperature.
Sonepur recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 8.8°C. The mercury also dipped to below 10°C in Daringbadi (9) and Phulbani (9.8).
Meanwhile, the temperature remained at 15°C or below at 14 places in Boudh (14.5), Titlagarh (15), Koraput (12.4), Balangir (14), Bhawanipatna (12), Talcher (14), Sundargarh (14), Sambalpur (15), Keonjhar (12.4), Jharsuguda (13.4), Baripada (12), Angul (10), Cuttack (14.5) and Chandbali (14.8).
In its morning bulletin, the Meteorological Centre said a depression formed over Bay of Bengal on Monday is likely to intensify further into a deep depression during the next 12 hours and concentrate into a cyclonic storm in the subsequent 24 hours. The system is likely to move west-north-west and cross the Sri Lanka coast on December 2.
Maintaining that the system will have no impact on Odisha, it said that the cold wave condition will further intensify in the state as there will be no change in the weather condition till December 7.
