Sambalpur: Police have arrested a 45-year-old man for allegedly attempting to rape a nine-year-old girl in Sambalpur district.
The accused was identified as Alekh Sahoo, a resident of Khetrajpur.
According to sources, the incident happened when the girl was plucking flowers on Saturday morning. The accused had somehow lured the minor to his house and pushed her in to his bathroom. He then tried to rape her, but the girl managed to escape.
She ran home and told her parents about her ordeal. The family then lodged a complaint at Khetrajpur police station. Following this, police lodged a case against Alekh and arrested him.
